33: Tommy LiPuma with Al Schmitt, Steve Gadd, Larry Goldings, Jacob Collier and Dean Parks
Earlier this spring, I had the opportunity to moderate a panel of heavyweights in the recording industry, lead by 5-time Grammy Award-Winning record producer Tommy LiPuma, whose career has spanned from Tin Pan Alley to Miles Davis to Willie Nelson.
The conversation is a fascinating glimpse into both the golden age of recording and modern music production approaches, which also highlights how important relationships and trust are to building a career in music (or any industry).
Recorded in Cleveland earlier this year at the TriC (Cuyahoga Community College) Tommy LiPuma Center for Creative Arts, it features Tommy, recording engineer Al Schmitt, drummer Steve Gadd, keyboardist Larry Goldings, guitarist Dean Parks, and arranger Jacob Collier.
