10: Emma Straub, Author

Emma Straub is the author of the novels The Vacationers and Laura Lamont’s Life in Pictures, and the short story collection Other People We Married. Her fiction and nonfiction have been published in Vogue, New York Magazine, Tin House, The New York Times, Good Housekeeping, and the The Paris Review Daily. Her most recent novel, The Vacationers, came out last week on Riverhead Books and it has been receiving absolutely fantastic reviews.

In this conversation, Emma talks about her early creative development, growing up around writers, confronting failure, facing success, finding her voice, working with Stephin Merritt (of the Magnetic Fields), tweeting and... eating. Okay, maybe not eating. But everything else.
